Letter of the Week: Ee

We started our day with sewing!

I have many different kinds of sewing kits 

for the children to experiment with.

Dress-up twins set, which is A-lot of fun!

Sewing beads on a lace for a necklace.

They did great!

We were blessed with a big sister helper today!

Annika is a perfect little teacher!

She lead the children in singing the alphabet during Circle time.

She helped review all our Bible lessons from the first day of School.

 Today is Ee day!

I love E day- "Elijah believed in the Everlasting God!"

Each time I share the story of Elijah with children I watch

how they are anxious to see if God hears and answers Elijah's prayer.

How they clap, squeal or laugh when they see and hear

the fire come down from heaven and burn up all the wood.

I purposely wait to pray with them after this Bible time

because they always seem to have faith to pray for big things 

after seeing God do big things.

The prayer requests were for:

Papa, Ms. Kelly, Uncle Tim, Uncle Weston, and Uncle Stephen

and of course all the boo-boos.

(Praying with children is the best!)

Elijah poured water all over the wood and the alter

and then prayed for God to send fire...

the fire came!

After our snack time we talked about the season of Fall.

We used sponges and paint to make a book about trees in the fall.

Even my two-year old had to sponge paint!

This was no small task! They had to paint four pages!

But they loved it!

While we waited for the paint to dry
we worked on our numbers and vowels.

The children are learning their vowels so fast!

I'm so proud of them! 

When their sponge-painted trees were dry we 

added leaf stickers, sticks and painted acorns to the them.

Letter of the Week - Cc

Today is Columbus Day,

and yes we have school!

We started the morning with reading time.

I read the book,

In 1492. 

I had other books about Christopher Columbus out 

for the children and I to look through and discuss.

After reading about Columbus 

I taught them the song:

"Sailing, sailing

over the ocean blue

Columbus found America in 1492.

Sailing, sailing,

three ship on the blue,

The Nina, and the Pinta, and the Santa Maria too!"

Next, we headed to the table for our morning craft time.

The children painted the three ships.

When we were all finished and cleaned up

we headed over to our Circle Time.

Next, we read our Bible story on Creation.

We talked about all six days of Creation and

what God created on each day.

Here the children are working on their Bible craft.

After a good snack break 

we reviewed our vowels and vowel sounds.

Here the students are working in their A Beka book.

The vowels for the week are Aa and Oo.

And working on their handwriting.

(She is just tooooo cute!)

I ended the day with our music time.

Instruments were out and they were ready to learn new songs.

Today I taught  the children a creation song that I truly love.

It is the first year I am teaching it and I think the children loved it too!

Marching and singing praise songs to God!

Does it get any better than this!

Letter of the Week: Bb

Today we began our day reading a book

about the different stages of the apple tree. 

After that we went to the table and painted
our very own apple tree using real apples!

I prepared the trunk of the tree

and the branches by cutting out strips brown construction paper.

The children needed to glue down the tree trunk

and all the branches in a way that pleased them.

They were busy!

Next, they dipped the apple half 

into red paint and stamped it where they wanted apples to
appear on the apple tree.

My boy said, "Mommy, I love this craft."

When they were finished stamping apples on their tree,

 I gave them each a leaf stamp.

They stamped leaf prints on the trees too.

After cleaning up we headed over to our Circle time area

and reviewed our alphabet, numbers, shapes etc.

Next, we sat and listened to the Bible Story.

The letter of the day was Bb. 

"The Bible is the Best Book."

With that I chose to read from the

 Bible the story of David and Golliath.

The children went back to their seats to work on their Bb page 

or Bible Craft of the day.

All done!

After a snack break we reviewed our vowels 

and vowel sounds.

The vowel of the day was Ee.

They needed to know their letter and the two sounds it makes.

Next was handwriting.

They were excited to be able to write the letter E.

As you can clearly see!

(This little guy is not yet four years old!)

We ended our day with a seasonal story on Johnny Appleseed.

We talked about what a great Christian man he was.

We talked about how he never carried much, 

but how made sure that he did carry his Bible.

 We learned that as he stayed with different 

families along his path he would read the Bible to the children.

Upon leaving them he would tear out pages from his Bible and leave it with them.

 He would tell them to hold onto the pages for he would come again

to take them back and give them new ones in return. 

Many people don't know that Johnny Appleseed was a missionary,

but he was.

When we were done reading we made our seasonal craft

of Johnny Appleseed.

In our bit of time left we had our first music time.

I taught them:

"I've Got the Joy, Joy, Joy,"

The B-I-B-L-E 

and 'Only a Boy Named David."

Whew! It was a big day, but they did great! 

It's going to be a wonderful year-I just know it!
