Welcome to my Joy School blog! If you have a child between the ages of 3-5 years old and would like to enroll him or her please contact me at shepherdingwithjoy@gmail.com. Our class meets once a week from 9:30am-11:30am. Hope you can join us!
The curriculum that I use in Joy School was created and written by me, Ellie J. Gill. Each week we focus on and study the "Letter of the Week." The Bible story, Bible memory verse, Bible craft and even the new song of the week is all based on the letter of the week.
Each week we also have a 'Circle Time.' Here we have our prayer time, and learn our pledges. We also review all aspects of the calendar: Months of the year, days of the week, numbers up to 30. We talk about special events of the month. For example: a child's birthday, holiday etc. We review colors, shapes, the alphabet, and how to count objects.
By the end of the year each child has learned more than twenty song- Bible songs, and concept songs.
Events of the year: We celebrate Christmas by having a 'Happy Birthday Jesus' party. Families are invited to come and celebrate. During our time together the students, perform all the songs they have learned for their mom, dad, grandparents and siblings. It is our great mid-year celebration. We also have a graduation party in May. The families are invited to come again. Students perform and are presented with a certificate for graduating PreK-4.
